Ithaca, New York - Tess Meuleman converted a penalty stroke at 40:06 to lift Kent State (3-1) to a 1-0 victory over Stanford (4-5) as the Cardinal dropped its third straight game and fell for the fifth time in its last six contests after starting the season with three victories.
Stanford goalkeeper Emily Zander picked up eight saves in the contest as Kent State outshot Stanford, 21-6. The Cardinal was outshot for the first time in nine games and blanked for only the second time this season. Kent State goalkeeper Linz Markwart recorded up the shutout and picked up a pair of saves.
Stanford returns to Northern California to open its NorPac slate and conclude a season-long eight-game road stretch at Pacific on Saturday, September 21 (1 pm, PT). The Cardinal returns home versus Iowa on Sunday, September 22 (1 pm, PT).
