Men's Volleyball Falls To Pacific At Husky Dino Cup

CALGARY, Alberta, Canada - Stanford University dropped a 3-0 decision to the University of the Pacific in its first of three round robin matches on Friday morning at the Husky Dino Cup. The Tigers (2-0) prevailed by scores of 25-20, 25-16, 25-20.

The Cardinal started out strong, and outhit the Tigers .375 (12 k-3 e-24 ta) to .321 (15-6-28) in the opening game. Pacific, however, went on to hit .409 (13-4-2) in game two and held the Cardinal to an .045 (7-6-22) clip in game three to record the sweep.

Senior outside hitter Billy Strickland (Malibu, CA/Harvard-Westlake HS) led the Cardinal with nine kills and eight digs, while senior Paul Bocage (Princeton, NJ/St. Joseph's) chipped in six kills and senior William Curtis (Whittier, CA/Harvard-Westlake HS) added five.

The Cardinal continues round robin play against the University of Calgary (1-0) on Friday night at 6:30 p.m. (Pacific Time). The Cardinal will play a total of four matches in the two days, though none of the contests will count in its regular season record.

In opening round action on Thursday night, Pacific rolled to a 25-22, 25-22, 25-15 win over the Calgary men and the University of Saskatchewan women defeated Calgary 22-25, 27-25, 25-20, 25-17.
