Recap|Box Score|Notes

Stanford Head Coach Buddy Teevens: "I thought we did some decent things during the course of the night. They jumped us pretty well with their secondary and closed things down a little bit. We tried to run the football. We had occasions but just came up short and didn't put the points on the board when we had the chance. A late turnover obviously affected us. Their defense did well; they're a decent defensive group, and it was going to be a close ball game throughout. We talked about how it was going to be a 60-minute contest. Special teams was going to be important. They made plays at the end, and we didn't make the plays that we needed to."

(On quarterback Kyle Matter): "I thought he played smart football. He had the one he forced up. Outside of that, I thought he protected the ball fairly well. He was harassed most of the afternoon, but he scrambled and picked up some key first downs for us. I thought he played really heady football. I was pleased overall."

UCLA Head Coach Bob Toledo: "I'm extremely proud of our team. We never quit. We played pretty hard in an adverse situation. We had two turnovers at the start, we had a freshman quarterback, and we worked extremely hard the whole game."

"(Tyler) Ebell ran very well. (Matt) Moore did a great job. We kept it simple. (Nate) Fikse did fantastic with five field goals. I couldn't be prouder of our team with four games left in the season. Now, we're going to focus on Washington."

"We wanted to get some one-on-one matchups. We took some deep shots, and a couple of them paid off."

(On McCloskey's fumble in the first quarter): "After a fumble, which made it 15-0, our team still had a lot of poise. McCloskey came up to me and said it was his fault, and that says a lot for a freshman. But unfortunately they scored on that drive."

(On Drew Olson): "Olson could have played if he had to. We had him warming up on the sidelines."

"Going into this game, we spoke about attitude and effort. I asked both players and coaches to give a little bit more of themselves. It was hard after the Cal game, but they did."

"We had a freshman quarterback who had never taken a snap in a college football game. So we asked everyone to give a little more out there, and we kept the playbook simple."

UCLA tailback Tyler Ebell (On being down 15-0 at the start of the game): "It reminded me of the Oregon game, but I knew we'd come back and win this one."

(On increasing his workload): "With more carries, I feel that I become a better runner. It reminded me of high school."

"The QB situation doesn't matter. Whoever's in there will do a good job."
