Sacramento, Calif. - The Cardinal Men competed at the Head of the American in breezy and sunny conditions. It was the first West Coast race for the 2002-'03 crews. The entire squad celebrated a fine showing by the Cardinal at the event.
The first races of the day included entries in the Open 4+ and Novice 8+'s. The later races included entries in the Open 2-'s and Open 8+. In both the Open 4+ and Open 2- events, personnel from the boats regrouped after their early racing and raced the Open 8+. It was a strong showing for the group as the Stanford "A" boat won the Open 8+ and the "B" boat finished third in the event.
The Cardinal Varsity squad next race on November 3rd in Newport Beach at the Newport Aquatic Center Fall Regatta. The Cardinal Freshmen/Novice crews will compete at the Head of the Lagoon in Foster City on November 3rd.
