Stanford Extends NorPac Lead With 5-0 Win At Saint Louis

Fenton, Mo. - Stanford (7-6, 3-0 NorPac) cruised to a 5-0 win over Saint Louis (1-8, 0-2 NorPac) on Friday to extend its lead in the NorPac West Division standings to a full game over second place and idle California (6-3, 1-0 NorPac). Amrit Chima and Amanda Billmyer tallied two goals each, while Keely Machmer-Wessels picked up a career-high three assists. Emily Zander and Ana Kralovec split the game in the net to combine for Stanford's second straight shutout, sixth of the season and 14th in its last 32 games.

Stanford has now won 13 of its last 15 games against NorPac opponents.

Chima picked up the only goal the Cardinal needed with an unassisted score on a penalty corner only 3:43 into the match before Billmyer followed with a tally just over a minute later at 4:45 to give Stanford a quick 2-0 lead. Machmer-Wessels picked up her first assist on Billmyer's goal.

The score remained 2-0 until early in the second half when Chima picked up her second score on an assist by Liz Ott at 37:42. Billmyer's second goal at 45:27 came on another assist by Machmer-Wessels and gave the Cardinal a 4-0 lead. Tammy Shuer finished Stanford's scoring with her first career goal on a penalty corner at 50:02 on assists by Machmer-Wessels and Eleanor Morgan.

Stanford dominated the contest with significant advantages in both shots (18-4) and penalty corners (15-3).

Saint Louis goalkeeper Leslie Kearns had six saves.

Chima and Billmyer both scored two goals in a game for the second time this season. Chima leads the squad with 15 points, one shy of the career-high 16 points she scored as a sophomore in 2000. Billmyer is fourth on the team with nine points this season.

Stanford will play a neutral site non-conference game against NorPac East member Southwest Missouri State on Saturday (2:00 pm, CT) before finishing the trip with a rematch versus Saint Louis on Monday (2:00 pm, CT). Stanford finishes a four-game road stretch with a key game at California on Saturday, October 12 (1:00 pm, PT) before returning home for a non-conference game versus Yale on Sunday, October 20 (1:00 pm, PT).
