A record 19 women registered to compete in the Women's Singlehanded PCC's sailed in Lasder Radials and hosted by Cal Berkeley Friday. Stanford junior Ashley Frush was hopeful for a repeat of last year's top finish, to qualify her for the College Singlehanded Nationals again. Junior Liz Shearer was also aspiring to earn a position in the top two, after a summer of training at regional and world competitions. Freshman Liz Rountree also competed. Frush's first two races proved to be some of her worst, a 9 and 14, although the rest of her races were strong top 10 finishes, it was only good enough to earn 4th. Shearer also earned some inconsistent finsishes earning 5th afew points behind Frush. Liz Rountree earned 14th in the competitive fleet. "Although our women were unable to dominate this event, Stanford is the only team to have two finishers in the top 5, showing the incredible depth to our women's team," commented coach Jay Kehoe. UCSB's Linsay Buchan and USC's Katie Clausen dominated the event and earned the berths to the Women's Singlehanded College Nationals.
