STANFORD, Calif. (AP) - For Azella Perryman and her teammates it was a night of records.
Perryman matched her career high with 17 points and grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds as No. 7 Stanford defeated Princeton 95-39 Friday night in the opening round of the Stanford Invitational.
It was Perryman's second consecutive double-double, and the fourth of her career as the Cardinal (3-0) recorded their largest margin of victory since a 58-point win over Sacramento State in 1995.
Katie Denny added a career high 18 points for Stanford. Clare Bodensteiner had 14, followed by T'Nae Thiel with 12 and Chelsea Trotter with 10.
"I thought we took care of business," said Stanford coach Tara VanDerveer. "We established the tone early with our aggressive defense. Katie being healthly allowed us to rest some people. I really liked Azella's rebounding."
Denny, who was out five weeks with a broken hand, made her debut against the Tigers.
"It was a lot of fun being able to play," said Denny. "I'm just working to get back into things so it was nice to stay in there and work some stuff out."
Allison Cahill led Princeton (2-2) with 10 points.
Perryman's 18 rebounds was the seventh-best single-game effort in school history. She also helped Stanford tie a school mark for rebounding margin as the Cardinal outboarded the Tigers, 62-27.
Stanford meets No. 2 Kansas State in Saturday's championship contest. The Wildcats beat Temple, 72-65, in an earlier first-round game.
Princeton, which did not play a ranked opponent last season, faces the Owls in the consolation game.
"What we haven't seen before is that kind of athleticism," said Princeton coach Richard Barron. "I told the girls that coming here is like a class field trip. It's like to going to Wall Street if you're in a finance class. We came out here to see how it's done at the highest level."
Stanford didn't need any last-minute heroics in this one. VanDerveer, one win away from 400 at Stanford, was able to clear her bench in the game's first 10 minutes. She has 551 career wins.
The Cardinal, who won their first two games by six points combined, held Princeton scoreless for over 10 minutes and scored 31 straight points to take a 35-3 lead at 7:53 of the first half.
Princeton was 0-for-11 from the field, 0-for-2 from the foul line and committed 11 turnovers during the Cardinal run. The Tigers shot 19 percent from the field (5-for-26) in the first 20 minutes.
Stanford held a 47-17 lead at halftime.
Stanford All-American Nicole Powell continues to rehab from a bulging disc in her back and has yet to suit up for a game. She is currently listed as day-to-day.
It was the first meeting between the two schools. Stanford lost to Harvard in the first round of the 1998 NCAA tournament in its last meeting against an Ivy League school.
