SW Missouri State Tops Appalachian State In NorPac Consolation Game, 1-0

Stanford, Calif. - Bethany Henrick's scored an unassisted goal 2:58 into the game and Jessie Lininger recorded her second shutout of the season to lead Southwest Missouri State (8-11) to a 1-0 victory over Appalachian State (5-15) in a consolation game of the NorPac Championships Friday at a rainy Varsity Field Hockey Turf. Appalachian State goalkeeper Amy Sarno recorded a game-high 15 saves in a losing effort. Lininger picked up three saves for the Bears.

Southwest Missouri State's Betsy Anderson had a second half defensive save on a shot by Emily Walls at 46:04 before Lininger recorded back-to-back saves on shots by Nara Brookes and Jennifer Beecher during a penalty corner that began at 48:35.

Henrick had an opportunity to increase the Bears' lead but hit the post on a penalty stroke at 67:20.

Southwest Missouri State held a 21-7 advantage in shots and a slim 5-4 margin in penalty corners.

Friday's game was the season finale for both teams.
