California Advances To NorPac Finals With 1-0 Win Over Pacific

Stanford, Calif. - California (13-6) defeated Pacific (4-13) by a score of 1-0 for its fifth straight win in a NorPac Championships semifinal contest to advance to Saturday's title game versus Stanford at 12:30 pm. The only goal of the game came at 49:16 when Lisa D'Anjou collected a rebound off a shot by Nora Feddersen and put the ball in the back of the net. Kelly Knapp recorded four saves and collected her sixth shutout of the season for the Golden Bears.

California has won three of the four titles since the NorPac Championships began in 1998 and will and will be playing in the title game for the fifth straight year, all against Stanford. The Golden Bears won NorPac titles in 1998, 1999 and 2001. Stanford won the conference championship in 1998.

The Tigers best scoring chance came when Nicolette Wiegand's deflection of a pass from Dana Walsh hit the post at 47:09.

California held a slim 10-9 advantage over Pacific in shots and led 11-5 in penalty corners.Gina Sadler had seven saves for the Tigers and has stopped 22 shots in the first two games of the tournament.

Pacific will face Radford in Saturday's third-place game at 10:00 am.
