Stanford Falls To New Hampshire, 3-1

Syracuse, New York - Stanford (3-2) dropped its second straight game with a 3-1 defeat to New Hampshire (2-2) in a non-conference game at Coyne Field on Sunday. Stanford picked up the loss despite dominating the game with a 21-4 advantage in shots. However, the Wildcats converted on three of their four shot attempts while playing the 500th game in the history of the program. Marcie Boyer tallied twice for New Hampshire, while Sam Carr added a goal. Christina Williams scored her first goal of the season for Stanford.

Boyer's first goal came on a penalty corner with assists from Jen Stamp and Kristen Weldon, breaking open a scoreless game just past the midway point of the first half at 19:36. Carr scored an unassisted goal just before halftime at 32:49 to give the Wildcats a 2-0 advantage at the break.

Williams cut the New Hampshire lead to 2-1 at 55:30 when she scored on a penalty corner with Noor Dawood and Eleanor Morgan providing assists.

However, New Hampshire regained its breathing room on Boyer's second goal at 58:48 on an assist by Lizzy Duffy.

New Hampshire goalkeeper Christine Buckley recorded 11 saves (eight in the second half) in the first 62:56 before giving way to Julie Munson for the final 7:04.

Stanford moves on to the second leg of its season-long eight-game road trip at Colgate on Tuesday, September 10 (7 pm, ET). Stanford will next be in action at home versus Iowa on Sunday, September 22 (1 pm, PT).
