STANFORD, Calif. - The fifth-ranked Stanford women's tennis team breezed to a 7-0 non-conference win over visiting Rice on Thursday afternoon at the Taube Tennis Center. The Cardinal improved to 4-1, while the Owls fell to 3-4.
The Cardinal continues this five-match homestand on Saturday when it hosts fourth-ranked California at 12:00 p.m. at the Taube Tennis Center.
Stanford was dominant on Thursday, winning all three doubles matches and capturing all six singles matches in straight sets.
At No. 1 singles, 17th-ranked Amber Liu posted a 6-1, 6-1 win over Blair DiSesa. In the No. 1 doubles match, 2002 NCAA quarterfinalists Lauren Barnikow and Erin Burdette defeated Lauren Archer and DiSesa 8-2.
