No. 8 Stanford Flies Over Air Force

Stanford, Calif. - Led by junior Dan Gill, the Stanford men's gymnastics team heartily defeated Air Force, 211.500-195.450 on Friday night at Maples Pavilion.

Gill won the All-Around competition and notched three first-place performances on the floor, vault, and the high bar with scores of 9.550, 9.550, and 9.150 respectively.

Senior Marshall Erwin, the 2002 NCAA ring champion, garnered a top-place finish with a 9.700 on the rings. Erwin also took first on the pommel horse with a score of 8.650.

Senior Matt McLean took second in the All-Around competition. McLean chalked up two second place finishes with a 8.800 on the floor and a 9.100 on the vault.

Despite the absence of senior Cade Raggio, who is currently ranked No. 1 on the pommel horse, the Cardinal managed to sweep the honors in the event.

Stanford returns to action next Saturday when it take on California, Michigan, Washington, and Nebraska at 7:00 p.m. in Burnham Pavilion.
