No. 12 Stanford Topples Nebraska and Michigan

Stanford, Calif. - No. 12 Stanford (4-2) posted a second place finish tonight with a 213.000 at Burnham Pavilion. The Cardinal finished behind No. 4 California (216.525), but overpowered the two teams tied for ninth in the nation, Michigan and Nebraska. The Wolverines notched a 211.825 for third place while the Cornhuskers tallied a 209.125 to take fourth. The University of Washington club team and an elite squad of three also competed tonight.

Stanford junior Dan Gill took top honors in the All-Around tonight with a 54.825. The No. 8 vaulter in the country, Gill posted a 9.475 to take first on the event while upping his second-ranked floor standing by chalking up a 9.550 for first place on floor as well. Gill also tabbed a 9.150 to take third on the high bar.

As tonight was the final home meet for the Cardinal in 2003, the seniors were honored before the meet and performed throughout the evening. Marshall Erwin continued his dominance on rings, putting up a 9.750 for the top spot while Paul O'Leary snagged second place on the parallel bars with a 9.300. Matt McLean posted an 8.900 on rings to take eighth place and Cade Raggio tied for fourth place on both the floor ( 9.000) and the high bar (9.100).

The Cardinal will travel to Norman, Oklahoma next week for a meet with Oklahoma nad Ohio State on Friday, March 7th.
