Eight-time champion Stanford University and Penn State University, open up the winter season where they left off in the fall, holding the top two spots in the NACDA Directors' Cup Division I standings.
Stanford scored in two of the three winter sports, placing sixth in women's indoor track and field and 10th in men's indoor track and field to post 584 points. Penn State is 167.5 points back, with 416.5 total points. The Nittany Lions placed 21st in women's indoor track and field.
This is the first set of winter standings and include the sports of skiing and men and women's indoor track and field. Winning national championships was Utah in skiing, Louisiana State in women's indoor track and field and Arkansas in men's indoor track and field.
The NACDA Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 20 sports -- 10 women's and 10 men's. Each national champion receives 100 points.
