Lincoln, Neb. - The Cardinal traveled to Husker territory to place third in the MPSF on the first day of league competition. Top-ranked Oklahoma recorded its fifth consecutive MPSF win and broke the NCAA record with a score of 223.50.
Junior Dan Gill took second in the All-Around competition and turned in a 9.450 on the floor, 8.350 on the horse, 8.850 on the rings, 8.950 on the vault, 9.300 on the parallel bars, and a 9.500 on the high bar. Gill will compete in the floor, parallel bars, and high bar individual event finals.
Senior Marshall Erwin continued his excellence on the rings and turned in a 9.750 for the night.
Senior Cade Raggio showed his depth by scoring a 9.350 on the horse, and 9.150 on the vault and high bar to advance to three individual event finals.
In total, six Stanford gymnasts advanced to the individual event finals tomorrow. Gill (FX, PB, HB), Cade Raggio (PH, V, HB), Marshall Erwin (SR), Matt McClean (V), Paul O'Leary (V), Kelly Lang (PB), will each face off against some of the top gymnasts in the nation.
The individual event finals begin Saturday, March 29, at 7 p.m., in the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
