Azusa, Ca - Timi Wusu resides in sixth place among 15 competitors after day one (Wednesday) of the Mt. SAC Relays Decathlon Championships.
Wusu has collected 3,371 points in the first five events. Claston Bernard of Jamaica leads the competition with 4,053 points.
Wusu's biggest point total of the day was 816 points in the long jump (7.01m, 23-0).Lillian Bush resides in seventh place among ten other competitors after day one (Wednesday) of the Mt. SAC Relays Heptathlon Championships.
After four events, Bush has collected 3,097 points. Michelle Perry, competing unattached, is the leader with 3,523 points. Eight of the eleven competitors chalked up 3,000 or more points.
Bush' best effort was the first event of the day, the 100 meter hurdles. Bush was clocked in a season-best 14.05, good for 971 points.
Ahimsa Hodari recorded a first day total of 2,858 points to place eleventh after first day competition on Wednesday at the California Invitational Heptathlon Championships at Azusa Pacific University.
Sally Mills resides in 20th place with 2,633 points.
Fionna Asigbee of Missouri is the first day leader among 27 competitors with 3,270 points. Six heptathletes broke the first day barrier of 3,000 points.
Four events (100 meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200 meters) were contested on the Wednesday. The seven-event competition will conclude Thursday with the long jump, javelin and 800 meters.
Hodari gained her biggest point total of the day with 810 points in the 200 meters (25.85).Hodari's time was fourth-best in the field.
Hodari is attempting to break her best of 4,836 points set earlier this year at the UC Multi-Events.
Mills' best event was also the 200 meters with a time of 26.13, good for 786 points. Mills has a season-best of 4,374 points set at the UC Multi-Events earlier this year.
In men's competition, Nicholas Taylor sits in tenth place among 16 competitors after day one (five events) at the California Invitational Decathlon Championships at Azusa Pacific. Taylor has tallied 3,296 points, while teammate Joshua Hustedt has 3,238 points to reside in eleventh place. William Sharman of Great Britain leads the competition with 3,710 points.
Taylor's best event of the day was the 400 meters (51.88) where he picked up 730 points. Hustedt's best event was the high jump (6-4 1/2, 1.94m) with 749 points.
