After last weeks bye weekend, the women's crew team faces #15 Oregon State at Redwood Shores on Saturday. The Cardinal will race a varsity eight, second varsity eight, and varsity four against the Beavers and then will turn right around in an hour to race the Hornets of Sacramento State.
The first eight and second eight finished ahead of OSU at the San Diego Crew Classic two weekends ago. The #4 ranked first eight finished 9 seconds ahead of OSU in the Grand Final where the Cardinal finished third and OSU finished 6th. Although the second varsity did not race Oregon State directly, since they were in different qualifying heats, the Cardinal finished ahead in the standings by qualifying for the Grand Final.
Head Coach Aimee Baker says of racing OSU, "Although we finished ahead of Oregon State in San Diego they are not to be taken lightly. Each year they travel down here and race us tough. They are a solid team and we will have to be at our best."
The Cardinal Women also face Sacramento State University. After racing OSU the rowers will come off of the water for a short rest before they face the Hornets.
