Walnut Creek, Calif. - Stanford freshman lefthanded pitcher Mark Romanczuk (Newark, DE/St. Mark's HS) has been named the Pac-10 Baseball Player of the Week for the second time this season. Romanczuk worked 7.2 innings in the rubber game of a three-game set versus Oregon State on April 19, allowing just two hits and striking out a career-high nine batters in a 10-0 Stanford victory as he combined with Matt Manship for Stanford's second shutout of the season. Romanczuk was also credited with the win versus San Jose State on April 15 by working 2.0 scoreless innings with three strikeouts.

On the season, Romanczuk (8-0, 3.57, 2 SV, 53.0 IP, 46 SO) leads the Pac-10 with eight victories.

The Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week award was the 63rd time a Stanford player has been selected Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week and the third time a Cardinal has won the award in 2003. John Hudgins was selected on February 11 and Romanczuk's previous selection was on April 1.

No. 4 Stanford (26-11, 9-3 Pac-10) currently leads the Pac-10 standings by two games. The Cardinal travels to Sacramento State (24-16) for a non-conference game this Tuesday, April 22 (2:30 pm), before hosting second-place Arizona (28-14, 7-5 Pac-10) for a key three-game conference series this Friday-Sunday, April 25-27 (6 pm, 1 pm, 1 pm).

The Arizona game on April 25 will be the first Stanford Baseball game to be televised by the College Sports Network (CSTV), which made its debut earlier this month. Stanford's home game versus UCLA on Sunday, May 18 (1 pm) is also scheduled to be televised by CSTV, which is available on DirecTV (Channel 610).
