Irvine, Calif. - No. 2 Stanford (14-1, 6-0 MPSF) handed No. 17 UC Irvine (14-16, 1-7 MPSF) an 11-3 loss today at the Anteater Aquatics Complex this afternoon. The Cardinal built up a 6-1 halftime lead before taking the eight-point win on the strength of junior Lauren Faust's career-high four-goal performance.
Faust notched the first two goals of the match to put the Cardinal ahead for the entire contest. Stanford held a 6-0 lead before UCI junior Erica Horman netted the first Anteater goals with 3:31 left in the first half.
Senior goalie Jackie Frank collected 12 saves for Stanford as the Cardinal solidified its top standing in the conference. The Anteaters' goalkeepers combined for 11 saves.
Stanford will be back in action tomorrow, Saturday, April 5th as the Cardinal takes on No. 4 Long Beach State at the 49ers' home pool. Game time is set for noon.
