COMMENTS FROM MARK MARQUESS
(On the balance of the Pac-10 standings)
"It's even a little more balanced than I thought initially. There are six teams that really still have a pretty good shot at it. It's probably going to go right down to the last weekend."

(On Stanford's remaining Pac-10 schedule)
"We've got a tough job ahead of us with a couple of tough road series the next two weeks at USC and California, and then a series against a UCLA team that's been unpredictable and capable of beating just about anybody as they showed when they won two-of-three at Arizona State a couple of weeks ago. Our toughest stretch in league may be our last nine conference game. We'll find out where we are."

(On the team's approach)
"We just have to pitch and play well, and hopefully get some timely hitting."

(On losing two-of-three to Arizona)
"They did a better job than we did in all phases of the game. In some ways we were fortunate to get one win in the series."

(On the team playing well on the road)
"We've played pretty well on the road, but you can't normally count on that. Each weekend is different, it's really more about how you play and how your opponent plays, especially at this time of the year."

(On Carlos Quentin's season to date)
"Carlos Quentin is having a great season and been a really tough out. Anytime you have a player hitting over .400 he is having a phenomenal year."
