RHP Tim Stauffer broke his own single-season strikeout record of 140, striking out 11 UCR batters in a losing effort to increase his season total to 146.

LHP Chad Decker had his longest outing of the year, throwing 4.2 innings in relief of RHP starter Jaymie Torres. Torres had his shortest unscheduled start of the season; his previous low was 6.2 innings. C Brian Emmons had made only five errors all season, until dropping two foul pop flys in the third inning. 1B Kevin Mangels struck out three times, the third time he has done that this season. UCR upped its record against ranked opponents to 6-3, while recording its 9th win in the previous 12 games. UCR improved its road/neutral record to 14-11; the Highlanders' home record is 27-4. For the 22nd time, UCR scored in double digits; the Highlanders are 21-1 in those games, with the lone setback being a 13-10 loss to Pepperdine on Feb. 26.
