San Francisco - Stanford Athletics and Talk 910 AM KNEW have agreed to a multi-yearpartnership that will give the Cardinal a new radio home for football and men's basketball. Beginning with Stanford's September 6 football season opener vs. San Jose State, Stanford Athletics will be broadcast exclusively on radio on the new Talk 910AM KNEW.
The agreement calls for KNEW to broadcast all Cardinal football and men's basketball games for the next three years. KNEW is owned and operated by Clear Channel Communications, the nation's largest radio company."We could not be more excited and enthusiastic about our new radio partners," said Cardinal Athletic Director Ted Leland. "The broad reach of KNEW and the expanded programming and promotional opportunities that Clear Channel can provide through its network of radio stations in the Bay Area and throughout Northern California is a win-win situation for the Stanford community and our football and men's basketball programs. In addition to broadcasting all games live, additional programming includes a 90-minute pre-game show for home football games, a 30-minute pre-game show for road football games and a30-minute post-game show after each Cardinal football game. Men's basketball broadcasts will include a 30-minute pre-game and 30-minute post-game show.
Stanford head football coach Buddy Teevens and head men's basketball coach Mike Montgomery will have a weekly presence on the KFOX (98.5 FM) Morning Show with Greg Kihn, who will interview the coaches every Friday morning during their respective seasons.
The broadcast teams for Stanford football and men's basketball remain the same: Ted Robinson (play-by-play) and Bob Murphy (analyst) on football and Murphy (play-by-play) and John Platz on basketball.
