Stanford Athletics And Law School To Host Sports Law Conference

Sandy Alderson, Gene Upshaw headline the list of speakers for the two-day event.

Stanford, Calif. - Sandy Alderson of Major League Baseball and Gene Upshaw of the National Football League Players Association are among the highlighted speakers at the 2003 Sports Law Conference hosted by Stanford Athletics and Stanford Law School on Thursday, September 18 and Friday, September 19 at Kresge Auditorium on the Stanford University campus.

Alderson and Upshaw will be joined by Seattle Mariners President Chuck Armstrong; Larry Baer, Chief Operating Officer of the San Francisco Giants; Donna Lopiano of the Women's Sports Foundation; sports agent Bill Duffy; former basketball great Len Elmore; Geoff Petrie, President of Basketball Operations for the Sacramento Kings; Stanford Law Professor Bill Gould; and Stanford Athletics Director Dr. Ted Leland, among others.

The two-day conference will cover many of the major legal issues involving the sports world today, including labor issues, globalization, minority issues in contemporary sports, issues of violence in contemporary sports, and sports and municipalities.

The cost of the conference is $350 for lawyers and the public, $75 for all students with meals (with school photo identification card), and $5 for all students without meals. Registration forms are currently available at SportsLawConference.com.
