CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Goals from senior Brittany Oliveira and sophomore Jennifer Farenbaugh propelled Stanford to a 2-1 victory over Harvard in their first competition at the Harvard Invitational on Friday at Ohiri Field. The win improves the Cardinal record to 2-2 this season.
Stanford's first score came at the start of the second period when Oliveira made good on an unassisted shot in the 46th minute of play. Farenbaugh brought the Cardinal lead to 2-0 with an unassisted goal at 72:54. Stanford recorded 13 shots against the Crimson.
Alisa Sato's goal at the 88th minute was not enough to give Harvard the win. Cardinal All-American goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart tallied two saves to increase her season total to six.
The Cardinal face Dartmouth at the Harvard Invitational on Sept. 14 at 8 a.m. (PT) at Ohiri Field in Cambridge, Mass.
