STANFORD, Calif. - The No. 4 Stanford women's soccer team fell 1-0 to No. 18 Portland, the 2002 NCAA Champions, on Friday at Maloney Field. The loss drops the Cardinal record to 1-1.

Stanford attempted three shots before Pilot Jennifer Tuttle fired an unassisted shot into the upper left of the net in the 32nd minute of play for the only score of the game. Stanford senior co-captain Natalie Spilger got off four shots while sophomore Leah Tapscott and freshman Gina Farias-Eisner tallied two each. Stanford outshot Portland 5-2 in the second period.

The Cardinal hosts No. 22 Pepperdine on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 1 p.m. on Maloney Field.
