Stanford Downs Oregon 3-1

EUGENE, Ore. - Seniors Allyson Marquand, Natalie Spilger and Brittany Oliveira propelled the Stanford women's soccer team to their second conference victory on the road on Friday as they downed Oregon 3-1 at Pape Field. The win improves the Cardinal record to 8-6-2 this season and 2-2-1 in Pac-10 Conference action.

Marquand tallied a team-high seventh goal this season early in the first period off an assist from Oliveira at 6:05. Spilger would increase the Cardinal lead to 2-0 at the 17-minute mark off a corner kick from Marquand. The score came on a header from seven yards out that inched by the right post. The goal marks Spilger's first this season. Stanford ended the half leading 2-0 and outshooting the Ducks 11-3.

Oliveira recorded her third score in 2003 at 58:46 on a high lob from 18 yards out off an eight-yard pass from sophomore Jennifer Farenbaugh. Oregon's Erin Engelhardt notched a lone goal in the 75th minute of play on an assist from Andrea Valdez.

Oliveira led the squad with five shots followed closely by Farenbaugh and Marquand with four each.

The Cardinal continue Pac-10 play on the road as they face Oregon State on Sunday, Oct. 26, at 1 p.m.
