Stanford Ends Season With 2-1 Double OT Win Over SMS

St. Louis, Mo. - Stanford (6-13) completed its season with a 2-1 double overtime win over Southwest Missouri State (6-15) to win the third-place game at the NorPac Championship on Saturday at the Anheuser-Busch Center. Noor Dawood scored the game-winning goal on an assist from Missy Halliday at 91:38. Stanford ended the season by winning two of its three games at the NorPac Championship.

Cara-Lynn Lopresti scored the game's first goal at 24:37 when she converted a penalty stroke, her second of the season in as many attempts. Lopresti was the only Stanford player named to the All-Tournament team. She led the Cardinal in scoring during her rookie season with 26 points on 10 goals and six assists.

Dawood's goal was her second game-winner of the season in her final game for Stanford.

Southwest Missouri State tied the score at 1-1 on an unassisted goal by Andrea Huskey at 37:37.

Stanford's Emily Zander (5-10) picked up the victory and recorded six saves. Southwest Missouri State's Jessie Lininger (6-15) took the loss despite picking up 10 saves.

Stanford edged Southwest Missouri State in shot attempts, 19-17, and also held a 14-9 advantage in penalty corners.

Stanford's Keely Machmer-Wessels had a game-high five shot attempts, while Gabby Gomez, Abbey Rolfe and Adrien Trumpy had four each for the Bears.

Stanford won two-of-the three games in the season series versus Southwest Missouri State.

Despite the victory, Stanford's third-place showing was its lowest in the event's six-year history. The Cardinal won the title in 1998 and 2000, while finishing second to California in 1999, 2001 and 2002. Stanford also had its streak of consecutive 10-plus-win seasons snapped at three.

California (12-3) defeated Radford (9-14) by a final score of 5-2 in Saturday's championship game. The Golden Bears won the tournament for the third consecutive year and advance to an NCAA Play-In Game at Atlantic-10 champion Richmond on Tuesday, November 11 (1 pm, ET). The winner of the California-Richmond game will move on to the 16-team NCAA Tournament, which begins November 15.
