SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Stanford University men's volleyball team fell to UC San Diego, 3-1 at the RIMAC Arena on the UC San Diego Campus. Game scores for the match were 27-30, 30-23, 31-33, and 22-30. With the loss, the Cardinal fall to 4-4 on the season and 2-2 in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play. The Tritons improve their record to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in MPSF play.

The Cardinal came out in game one sluggish, registering a .100 hitting percentage. The Cardinal and the Tritons were tied 13-13 midway through the first game, when UCSD went on a 8-2 run to grab a 21-15 lead and cruise to a 30-27 win.

The Cardinal would pick up the offense in game two, posting a .441 hitting percentage for the game. Sophomore Ben Reddy, who had a career and game high 23 kills, hammered home a kill to give Stanford a 16-13 lead they wouldn't relinquish.

However, it wouldn't be Stanford's night as the Cardinal would fall in games three and four.

For the Cardinal, Reddy posted a solid .421 hitting percentage to go along with his 23 kills. Junior middle blocker Craig Buell was the only other Cardinal in double figure kills with 12. Junior Kevin Hansen served up 53 assists and collected a game-high 14 digs.

The Cardinal return home to face the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos on January 30th before hosting Cal State Northridge on January 31st.
