STANFORD, Calif. - The No. 1 Stanford women's tennis team swept No. 38 UNLV 7-0 at Taube Tennis Center on Friday. The Cardinal boast an unblemished 7-0 record this season.
"It was a good match today against a good team in poor weather conditions with the wind and rain delays," head coach Lele Forood said. "We were glad to be competing again after five days off."
The Stanford duo of senior Lauren Barnikow and junior Erin Burdette improved their doubles record this season to 13-1 after downing Rebels Agnieszka Abram and Anne Claire Ortiz-Luis 8-2. The Cardinal remained strong through doubles action as Alice Barnes and Amber Liu paired to take an 8-2 victory and Emilia Anderson and Anne Yelsey tallied an 8-4 win.
Stanford continued to dominate in singles action with wins from Liu (No. 1), Barnes (No. 2), Burdette (No. 3), Barnikow (No. 4), Theresa Logar (No. 5) and Story Tweedie-Yates (No. 6).
The Cardinal continue action at home as the squad plays host to Fresno State on Feb. 17 at 1:30 p.m. at Taube Tennis Center.
