Seattle, Wa - Not only did Alicia Craig win the 5,000 meters at Saturday's Pac-10 Indoor Invitational, but the six-time All-American qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships later this year with a time of 15:56.88.
Craig's time and first place efforts by Ian Dobson in the 5,000 meters, Sara Bei in the mile, Janice Davis in the 60 meters and Jakki Bailey in the 200 meters highlighted Stanford's participation at the Pac-10 Indoor Invitational in Seattle. Dobson, in his 2004 indoor debut, ran the 5,000 meters in an NCAA qualifying and career-best time of 13:49.17. Bei, also competing for the first time this year, ran an NCAA provisional time of 4:43.87. Davis qualified for the MPSF Championships in a season-best time of 7.46 while Bailey ran 24.77.
Six Stanford athletes ran NCAA provisional times including Chris Emme in the 3,000 meters (7:57.52), Seth Hejny in the 3,000 meters (8:07.25), Neftalem Araia in the 5,000 meters (13:56.99), Peter Meindl in the 5,000 meters (13:58.49), Chinny Offor in the 800 meters (2:08.23) and Teresa McWalters in the 5,000 meters (16:33.03),
Several Cardinal athletes qualified for the MPSF Championships (Feb. 27-28). The list includes Jeff Conkey in the 400 meters (49.24), Justin Romaniuk in the 800 meters (1:52.23), Joaquin Chapa in the 800 meters (1:53.27), Jacob Gomez in the 3,000 meters (8:08.36), David Vidal in the 3,000 meters (8:22.06), Solomon Welch in the long jump (23-5 1/2, 7.15m) and triple jump (49-4 1/2, 15.04m), Omer Inan in the shot put (54-11 1/2, 16.75m), Feranmi Okanlami in the triple jump (47-5, 14.45m), Janice Davis in the 60 meters (7.46), Lindsey Johnson in the 60 meter hurdles (8.67), Keisha Gaines in the 400 meters (55.22), Nashonme Johnson in the 400 meters (55.22), Katie Hotchkiss in the 800 meters (2:09.42), Ashley Freeman in the 800 meters (2:13.07), Jeane Goff (9:54.40) in the 3,000 meters, Undine Becker in the triple jump (38-10 1/2, 11.85m), Jessica Pluth in the weight throw (60-5 1/4, 18.42m) and Katy Elsbury in the weight throw (54-4 3/4, 16.58m).
