No. 9 Stanford Impressive In 197.850-197.175 Win At No. 16 Oregon State

CORVALLIS, Ore. - The No. 9 ranked Stanford University women's gymnastics team edged the No. 16 Oregon State Beavers, 197.850-197.175 in front of 3,682 fans in Gill Coliseum on the Oregon State campus. The 197.850 ties Stanford's all-time best road score. With the win, the Cardinal improve to 7-3 on the season, while the Beavers fall to 4-8.

Stanford captured three of the top four spots in the all-around with sophomore All-American Natalie Foley capturing first in the all-around with a score of 39.725. Senior All-American Caroline Fluhrer finished second with a score of 39.625, while fellow senior All-American Lindsay Wing finished fourth with a score of 39.400.

The Cardinal started the night on bars, on which Stanford entered the evening ranked No. 9 in the country. The Cardinal were impressive, scoring a 49.425 and grabbing a slim lead after the first rotation. Sophomore All-American Natalie Foley tied OSU's Heidi Goehring for first place with a 9.950, while senior All-American Caroline Fluhrer captured third with a 9.925.

Leading 49.425-48.825 heading into the second rotation, the Cardinal earned a 49.375 on the vault to increase their lead. Foley again finished first with a 9.925, while sophomore Jessica Louie earned a 9.900.

The Cardinal headed to the floor in the third rotation and they performed beautifully, earning a team score of 49.425. It was Foley again who captured first, tallying a 9.950, while Fluhrer earned a 9.925 and Louie recorded a 9.900.

Stanford sealed the win in the fourth rotation, when the Cardinal headed to the balance beam, a strength for the Cardinal. Stanford, the No. 5 ranked beam team in the country, was near flawless, earning a 49.625. All six Cardinal gymnasts registered a 9.900 or better on the beam. Senior All-Americans Kendall Beck, Lise L?veill?, Lindsay Wing and Fluhrer, along with freshman Stacy Sprando, each earned a 9.925 with Sprando's score marking a new career-high. Foley rounded out the Cardinal performers with a 9.900. The 49.625 marked the program's all-time best mark on the beam on the road.

The Cardinal wrap-up the regular season at Maryland on March 6th. Stanford will then travel to Tucson, AZ for the Pac-10 Championship on March 20th.
