Stanford, CA - The No. 1 Stanford women's tennis team opened Pac-10 play on Friday with a 7-0 sweep of No. 24 Oregon at the Taube Tennis Center on Friday afternoon. With the win, Stanford extends its perfect record to 9-0.
The match began with doubles action, as the nation's top-ranked duo, Lauren Barnikow and Erin Burdette, defeated No. 27 Courtney Nagle and Daria Panova by the score of 8-4. Alice Barnes and partner Amber Liu posted an 8-2 victory for the Cardinal in No. 2 doubles, and the team of Emilia Anderson and Anne Yelsey completed the sweep with an 8-2 win in No. 3 doubles.
Stanford was equally dominant in singles play, as Amber Liu, Alice Barnes, Lauren Barnikow, Theresa Logar, and Emilia Anderson all cruised in straight set victories. Erin Burdette defeated Oregon's Dominika Dieskova in three sets.
Up next for the Cardinal, a trip to Berkeley to face No. 9 California at Noon on Sunday, Feb. 29 at the Hellman Tennis Complex in Berkeley, CA.
