BERKELEY, Calif. - The No. 1 ranked Stanford women's tennis team downed No. 9 California 6-1 at the Hellman Tennis Complex in Berkeley on Sunday, dropping only one doubles and one sngles match. The win improves the Cardinal's perfect record this season to 10-0.
Stanford took the doubles point off wins in the No. 1 and No. 2 spots from the Cardinal duos of Lauren Barnikow and Erin Burdette, and Alice Barnes and Amber Liu.
Barnes, Burdette and Barnikow also tallied singles wins. Barnes downed Cal's Jieun Jacobs 7-5, 4-6 (10-6), while Burdette defeated Golden Bear Catherine Lynch 6-4, 6-3. Barnikow tallied a win over Nicole Havlicek in straight sets (6-3, 6-2). Cardinal Theresa Logar and Emilia Anderson also recorded victories for Stanford.
The Cardinal next play host to Fresno State on Wednesday, March 3 at 1:30 p.m. at Taube Tennis Center.
