STANFORD, Calif. - No. 1 Stanford posted a commanding 7-0 victory over visiting Santa Clara Tuesday at the Taube Tennis Center. The win extends Stanford's season record to a perfect 14-0.
The Cardinal returned to play after a two-week hiatus, and from the outset, the team was extremely sharp and focused. Stanford earned the doubles point with impressive wins by Alice Barnes and Amber Liu, Emilia Anderson and Anne Yelsey, and the nation's top ranked duo Lauren Barnikow and Erin Burdette.
In singles action, straight set wins were posted by Barnes, Burdette, Barnikow, Theresa Logar, Anderson, and Story Tweedie-Yates.
The Cardinal will travel to Washington later this week to face Pac-10 foes the Washington and Washington State. The Cardinal will play the No. 7 Huskies on Friday, March 26, in Seattle, Wash., and then head to Pullman, Wash., to take on the No. 49 Cougars on Saturday, March 27.
