SEATTLE, Wash. - Stanford's season record now stands at a perfect 15-0 after earning a hard-fought victory against the No. 7 Washington Huskies at the Lloyd Nordstrom Tennis Center in Seattle.
Today's match-up with Pac-10 rival Washington was Stanford's most challenging dual meet thus far. The Cardinal clinched the doubles' point by virtue of wins by Barnes and Liu, who edged out the Huskies' Hadzic and Hoe 8-6, and Anderson and Yelsey, who topped Nauenberg and Ahn 8-1. Top-ranked duo Barnikow and Burdette fell to No. 6 Carter and Sumantri of Washington.
Singles play featured straight set wins for the Cardinal by Lauren Barnikow, Theresa Logar, and Emilia Anderson. No. 15 Alice Barnes battled No. 18 Dea Sumantri for three sets before claiming victory. Washington's Claire Carter rallied to defeat Amber Liu 4-6, 6-2,6-4, and Erin Hoe earned a win over Stanford's Erin Burdette.
The Cardinal will look to remain perfect on the year when the team faces the No. 49 Washington State Cougars on Saturday, March 27 in Pullman, WA. First serve is at noon.
