No. 1 Stanford Downs No. 14 Fresno State 6-1

Stanford, Calif. - The top-ranked Stanford women's tennis team now boasts an 11-0 season record after defeating a determined Fresno State squad 6-1 on Wednesday at the Taube Tennis Center. The match went on until well past sundown, and was tightly contested until the very end.

Stanford earned the doubles point to open the match, as the teams of Lauren Barnikow and Erin Burdette, Alice Barnes and Amber Liu, and Emilia Anderson and Anne Yelsey combined to record a 3-0 sweep.

In singles play, Barnes and Barnikow each posted victories in straight sets, while Yelsey battled back to win the final two sets 6-1, 6-3 after dropping the first set 4-6 to Fresno State's Courtney Jantz. Burdette and Anderson played under the lights to earn hard-fought wins in three sets. Fresno State's Jelena Pandzic defeated Stanford's Liu 6-2, 6-2.

The No. 1 Cardinal will next travel to Tempe, Ariz.., to face No. 33 Arizona State on Friday, March 5 at 1:30 p.m. at the Whiteman Tennis Center.
