COLLEGE PARK, MD - For the third straight week, the Stanford University women's gymnastics team topped the 197 mark and for the third straight week, the Cardinal walked away from a meet with an impressive win. The No. 5 ranked Cardinal defeated the Maryland Terrapins, 197.775-197.375 Saturday night in the Comcast Center Gymnasium. With the win, the Cardinal improve to 8-3 on the season, while the Terrapins fall to 9-10 on the year.

The Cardinal started the evening on the uneven bars and jumped out to the early lead with a team total of 49.500. All six Stanford performers registered a 9.825 or better with senior All-American's Lise L?veill? and Lindsay Wing leading the way with scores of 9.925. Senior All-American Caroline Fluhrer and sophomore All-American Natalie Foley, the reigning Pac-10 Gymnast of the Week, were right behind them, each recording 9.900s.

The Cardinal moved to the vault in the second rotation, where Stanford lengthen its lead with an outstanding team score of 49.525. Sophomore Jessica Louie, who has been performing exceptionally on the vault this season, captured first in the event with a 9.975. Also performing well on the vault was Fluhrer with a 9.950 and L?veill? with a 9.925. Senior Shelly Goldberg added a 9.900 to help the Cardinal capture the event.

The Cardinal moved to the floor exercise in the third rotation and tallied a team score of 49.300. Fluhrer led the Cardinal with a score of 9.925 followed by Foley who recorded a 9.900. Louie scored a 9.850 while Wing registered a 9.825.

In the last rotation, Stanford moved to the balance beam where they finished first in the event with a score of 49.450. Senior All-American Kendall Beck tied for first in the event with a 9.925 to lead the Cardinal. L?veill?, Wing and Foley eached scored a 9.900 to tie for third in the event, while Fluhrer turned in a solid 9.825.

Fluhrer tied Rachel Martinez of Maryland for top honors in the all-around with a score of 39.600, while Wing finished third with a score of 39.425.

The Cardinal will now prepare for the Pac-10 Championship which will be held in Tucson, AZ on March 20th.
