STANFORD, Calif.- The No. 10 ranked Stanford men's volleyball team dropped a heartbreaker to the Pacific Tigers, 3-2, at Burnham Pavilion on Saturday evening. It was the Cardinals' second loss to the Tigers this week. Game scores for the match were 30-24, 30-21, 27-30, 21-30, and 10-15. With the loss, the Cardinal fall to 9-18 on the season and 6-16 in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play, while the Tigers improve to 10-19 on the year and 6-16 in MPSF action.

Stanford won the first game by a score of 30-24. The Cardinal posted a .516 hitting percentage in the first game, while the Tigers hit .333. Junior Craig Buell posted six kills to lead Stanford, while junior David Vogel pitched in five kills.

Game two was much of the same as the Cardinal stormed to a 30-21 victory, hitting for a blistering .667 percentage. Stanford was paced by Ben Reddy, as the sophomore collected five kills.

Pacific turned the tide in game three, coming from behind to post a 30-27 win. The Tigers got 10 kills from Brian Zodrow to collect the win despite hitting for a .156 percentage. Pacific then pulled even with a 30-21 win in the fourth game. The Tigers blocked two shots and were led by Mauricio Brizuela's four kills.

Pacific handed the Cardinal a 15-10 defeat in the fifth and deciding game, as the Tigers posted a .500 hitting percentage. The Cardinal were led by Buell and Vogel, as the two collected a pair of kills apiece.

For the match, the Cardinal were led by Buell's 14 kills while Vogel and sophomore Nick Manov each chipped in 13 kills. Junior Kevin Hansen recorded a team-high 51 assists and sophomore Jeremy Jacobs posted a game-high 17 digs.

Pacific was led by Zodrow's 16 kills, while Brizuela and Nils Dauburs pitched in 14 and 11 kills, respectively.
