Somis, Calif. - The Stanford women's golf team shot a 310 on the first day of competition at the 2004 Pac-10 Women's Golf Championships at the Saticoy Country Club in Somis, Calif. The Cardinal are currently in third place in the overall standings, just two strokes out of first place. UCLA leads the field with a 308, followed by Washington (309), Stanford (310), Southern California (312), Arizona State (312) and California (312).
Arizona's Erica Blasberg fired a one-under par 71 to sit atop the leaderboard after the first round. Senior Angela Rho (Fullerton, CA) led the Cardinal today, shooting a one-over par 73 and is second just two strokes behind Blasberg. Three golfers are tied for third with a 74.
Sophomore Stephanie Lue (Houston, TX) and freshman Jennifer Tangtiphaiboontana (Long Beach, CA) both posted a six-over par 78 and are tied for 12th. Senior Kim Kouwabunpat (Upland, CA) carded an 80 on the first day of action and is tied for 33rd while junior Wendra Liang (San Francisco) shot an 82 and is tied for 37th. Rounding out the list of Cardinal golfers is freshman Lauren Todd (Phoenix, AZ), who is tied for 41st with an 84.
