Sophomore quarterback Trent Edwards led the Cardinal to a 35-0 win over the White in today's annual Spring Game as the Los Gatos native completed 20-of-25 for 270 yards and four touchdowns. Edwards threw TD passes to J.R. Lemon, Mark Bradford, Alex Smith and Justin McCullum as the offense totalled 343 yards through the air.

"We had a very productive spring," said Cardinal head coach Buddy Teevens. "There were many positives to point towards. I thought we threw the ball well today and that Trent (Edwards) showed great progress, not only today but throughout the spring. We played hard every practice this spring. Our guys continue to push each other and work hard. As a coaching staff, we're pleased with what we accomplished this spring," he said.

Bradford, Stanford's leading returning receiver, had six catches for 82 yards, including a 12-yard scoring pass from Edwards. Kenneth Tolon was the team's leading receiver with 31 yards on eight carries.

Defensively, Bryan Bentrott led the team with nine tackles. Linebackers Michael Okwo and Landon Johnson each had seven tackles while Julian Jenkins was credited with two sacks.

Edwards led the Cardinal to the first score of the game in the opening period as he drove his team 82 yards on six plays, capped by a six-yard touchdown pass to Lemon. In the second quarter, Edwards moved his team 83 yards on 13 plays for the second touchdown of the game, this one coming on a 12-yard pass to Bradford.

Tight end Alex Smith was impressive in today's Spring Game as he caught five balls for 65 yards, including the game's third touchdown of the day, a six-yard pass from Edwards that capped a six-play, 53-yard drive.

Edwards hit Justin McCullum for a 31-yard scoring play in the third period for the game's fourth TD. The final score came on a six-yard pass from redshirt freshman T.C. Ostrander to redshirt freshman fullback Emeka Nnoli.
