Berkeley, Ca - Samantha Shepard captured top honors inthe pole vault to highlight Stanford's activities at the Golden Bear Qualifier on Saturday at Edwards Stadium.
Shephard, a sophomore, leaped over the bar at 12 9 1/2 (3.90m). Leila Ben-Youssef finished second at 12-3 1/2 (3.75m).
At the UC San Diego Invitational, William O'Neill threw the discus a career-best 170-10 (52.08) and thus qualified for NCAA Regional competition. Erin Merriman won the javelin (146-11, 44.78m).
