No. 2 Stanford Looks For 15th Straight Home Win Tuesday Versus Santa Clara

Putnam Named To Academic All-America All-District VIII First Team

Stanford, Calif. - Stanford junior outfielder Danny Putnam (Escondido, CA/Rancho Bernardo HS) has been named to the 2004 University Division CoSIDA Academic All-America All-District VIII Baseball First Team for the first time in his career. Putnam is a Sociology major with a 3.26 cumulative GPA.

Putnam leads Stanford in batting average (.393, #3 Pac-10), hits (75, #2 Pac-10) and multiple-hit games (25). He is also among Pac-10 leaders with 13 homers (#2 Pac-10), 53 runs scored (#4 Pac-10), 45 RBI (#8 Pac-10), a .670 slugging percentage (#2 Pac-10), 128 total bases (#2 Pac-10) and a .473 on base percentage (#10 Pac-10). Putnam has started all 46 games this season for the Cardinal in left field.

Stanford will travel to Arizona (25-20-1, 7-8 Pac-10) for a three-game Pac-10 series this Saturday-Monday, May 15-17 (7 pm, 7 pm, 1 pm, MST) to conclude its regular season road schedule. Stanford (11-4 Pac-10) currently holds a slim one-half game lead in the Pac-10 standings over Washington (12-6 Pac-10), who handed the Cardinal its first series loss of the season by taking two-of-three games in Seattle last Friday-Sunday.

The Cardinal will return home for four home games next week, hosting San Francisco in its final regular season non-conference game of the season on Tuesday, May 18 (6 pm, PDT) before welcoming USC for a three-game Pac-10 series Friday-Sunday, May 21-23 (6 pm, 1 pm, 1 pm, PDT). Stanford will host its annual Youth Baseball Day on Sunday versus the Trojans.
