Jessica Allister Notches Five RBI In 7-2 Win Over Pacific

Stanford. Calif. - Senior catcher Jessica Allister notched five RBI to lead the Stanford softball team to a 7-2 victory over Pacific this afternoon in the Stanford NCAA Regional at Boyd and Jill Smith Family Stadium. The Cardinal improve to 45-16 on the year while the Tigers fall to 35-22.

The Cardinal got on the board early in the first inning as Catalina Morris and Lauren Lappin hit back-to-back singles to put runners on first and second. Jessica Allister then homered to centerfield to put Stanford up, 3-0.

In the top of the second, Jackie Rinehart got things started when she hit an infield single. Morris followed with another infield single to put runners on first and second. Lappin then singled to load the bases. Leah Nelson drew a walk as Rinehart came home to make it, 4-0.

Pacific picked up a run in the bottom of the second as Crystal Presson singled in Ashlie D'Errico.

In the top of the fourth, Rinehart led off the inning with a single to centerfield. Morris followed with a single to left. Both runners moved up on a ground out by Lappin. Allister doubled to leftfield, scoring two.

The Tigers got one run back in the bottom of the inning as Jennifer Curtier homered to rightfield.

In the top of the sixth, Lappin reached base on an error by the third baseman to get things started. Nelson doubled to rightfield, scoring Lappin.

Picking up her 30th win of the season was Cardinal pitcher Dana Sorensen, who went seven innings, allowing two runs on six hits with 14 strikeouts and no walks. Natalie King took the loss for the Tigers, allowing six runs on 11 hits over 3.1 innings of work.

Catalina Morris went 3-for-4 at the plate for Stanford with two runs scored. Meghan Sickler also went 3-for-4 on the afternoon. Leah Nelson had a 2-for-2 effort with two RBI while Lauren Lappin went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Jackie Rinehart also recorded two hits and two runs scored.

The Tigers were led by Jennifer Curtier and Crystal Presson who each collected two hits.

Stanford's 15 hits in this game was a season-high for the team, besting their previous high of 14 hits against Cal State Northridge.

The Cardinal will face Hofstra tomorrow at 1 p.m. in the winner's bracket while Pacific takes on Fresno State tonight in an elimination game.
