Three Cardinal Named All-Americans

STANFORD, Calif. - Three Stanford women's water polo players have been named All-Americans by the American Water Polo Coaches Association. Senior Wendy Watkins earned First-Team honors, junior Hannah Luber was named to the Second Team and freshman Christina Hewko earned Honorable Mention.

Two-meter defender Watkins and two-meter Luber led the Cardinal with 28 goals each this season.

Watkins was named a finalist of the 2003-04 Peter J. Cutino Award, earned First-Team All-MPSF honors and was a Second-Team NCAA All-Tournament selection. She was named the MPSF Player of the Week for March 21 after tallying the game-winning goal in Stanford's 7-6 overtime win at Hawaii.

Luber earned Second-Team All-MPSF honors and was named NCAA All-Tournament Second-Team. She scored at least one goal in 16-of-26 games throughout the season and recorded a career-high three scores against UC San Diego at the UCSB Tournament.

Two-meter Hewko notched 15 goals in her initial collegiate season on The Farm. She was named to the MPSF All-Freshmen Team.
