LONG BEACH STATE
* Long Beach State opens up NCAA play with a win for the 10th time in school history.
* LBS wins for the first time since May 15th (at UC Riverside). They snap a seven game losing streak, their longest since 1988.
* The 49ers even their record in Palo Alto at 9-9, spanning 5 NCAA playoff appearances since 1998.
* Long Beach wins for the fourth time this year with 5 or fewer hits. Their overall record in these games is 5-6.
* The 49ers have allowed 11 homeruns in their last 5 games after allowing only 19 in their first 51 games.
ST. JOHN'S
* St. John's falls to 8-6 in one run games.
* The team suffers their 3rd NCAA tournament loss under Head Coach Blankmeyer and fall to 52-50 in NCAA play.
