STANFORD, Calif. (AP) - John Mayberry, Jr. hit a monstrous home run and drove in three runs to lead Stanford to a 7-2 victory over Saint John's in an elimination game of the Stanford Regional on Saturday night.

Chris Minaker also hit a home run and drove in two runs as the Cardinal (49-13) advanced to Sunday's championship game against Long Beach State. Stanford would have to beat the 49ers twice to advance to a Super Regional next weekend.

Matt Toscani (5-2) took the loss after giving up six runs _ two earned _ on seven hits over six innings. He walked three and struck out two.

PJ Antoniato and Greg Thomson each had two hits for the Red Storm (37-23), who were eliminated in their first NCAA tournament since 1997. Jim Martin and Joe Burke drove in runs for Saint John's.

Mayberry, who tripled home a run in the first, hit a ball an estimated 500 feet for his 15th homer of the season, a two-run shot in the fifth that cleared the light stand beyond the left field fence.

Jed Lowrie led off the ninth with his 17th homer of the season.
