Stanford's Three-Game Win Streak Snapped With 5-0 Loss To Central Michigan

Iowa City, Iowa - Stanford (4-4) had its three-game win streak snapped when the Cardinal fell to Central Michigan (2-0) by a score of 5-0 in a non-conference neutral site field hockey game at Grant Stadium on Saturday. Erica Takach scored a pair of goals and added an assist for the Chippewas, including the game-winner on a penalty corner in the first half with assists by Michelle Fogle and Stasia Burroughs to give the Chippewas a 1-0 halftime advantage.

Central Michigan padded its lead with four more second half scores. Alicia Balanesi made the score 2-0 when she scored off a crossing pass from Takach. Allyson Doan then scored her first career goal with an unassisted score to give CMU a 3-0 lead and Kristy Reed increased the advantage to 4-0 with another unassisted tally. Takach capped off the offensive outburst with her second goal of the contest, again off a penalty corner, and assisted by Kim Ferris and Fogle.

CMU goalkeeper Danielle Frank earned her second shutout in a row, making four saves before giving way to Sarah Mancuso with two minutes remaining. Stanford's Ana Kralovec had nine saves, including eight in the first half, before Madison Bell went into the cage for the Cardinal during the second half.

Stanford will host Drexel next Tuesday, September 14 (3 pm, PT) in its final tune-up before opening NorPac action at Pacific on Saturday, September 21 (3 pm, PT).
