Pullman, Wash. - Stanford finished the regular season with a double overtime 0-0 tie at Washington State this afternoon. The Cardinal finish the 2004 campaign with a 12-5-3 record and a 4-3-2 mark in Pac-10 play. The Cougars finish the season at 8-7-4 with a 3-4-2 record in conference action.
Stanford and Washington State battled for 110 scoreless minutes in Pullman, and although both teams had opportunities to score, combining for 21 shots on the day, neither team could convert a goal. Cardinal forward Marcie Ward (Alamo, Calif./Carondelet) led the way with three shots, while Stanford keeper Nicole Barnhart (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) picked up five saves in the match and recorded her ninth shutout of the season.
Tomorrow, the NCAA will announce the field for the 2004 NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Tournament at approximately 1:30 p.m. on ESPNews.
