STANFORD
Head Coach Tara VanDerveer
"We're very excited to be playing Monday night. We did a really good job defensively and we played very well."
"We hit a lot of the big, open shots. It was a great team effort and obviously very important and a big win for us."
Stanford Guard Kelley Suminski
On tonight's game:
"I was ready to play after not playing for 12 days. Practice gets a little tough after a while. We are looking forward to Monday now. We are capable of playing like this."
Forward Nicole Powell
On tonight's game:
"People were knocking down shots all over. I went to work on the inside game, and everyone was contributing to the game. I was just trying to come out strong. I was ready from the start, I wanted to get out there and do it right."
Center Chelsea Trotter
On tonight's game:
"It boils down to the fact that this is my last year playing. All the seniors worked really hard, and I think that we are willing to work through whatever barriers try to keep us from playing."
MISSOURI
Head Coach Cindy Stein
"I would like to wish Stanford the best of luck and I thought they played real well tonight. The key to the game was lack of an offensive execution. We just could not make the shots and it was very frustrating all night. I thought we had some great looks at the basket but could not knock them down and sometimes that's how it goes. I felt like our kids played hard, I don't think they ever gave up. I think Stanford is an outstanding team and we wish them the best of luck."
Forward Evan Unrau
On feeling if Mizzou was playing behind the whole game
"I think that we put ourselves at position to make them look like they played bad. They played pretty consistently throughout the game defensively and we never really made a run."
On being surprised or lack of execution on Mizzou's part?
"It was a lack of execution. Everything they did we had seen in film or seen about from someone else."
On feeling good about the start
"I think we had some good shots. But defensively we had a lot of breakdown and its hard to keep those runs going when you're letting them get an easy basket."
Forward Stretch James
On Stanford defense
"Stanford was playing good defense. I was being pushed up high and basically they were just playing good defense."
