Redwood Shores, CA-After a long day of racing, No. 3tCalifornia and No. 3t Princeton men's varsity eightsalong with No. 11 California and No. 7 Virginia openvarsity and defending national champion Princetonlightweight women's varsity eights advanced undefeatedto day two of the Windermere Collegiate Crew Classicon the Redwood Shores Lagoon, March 28.
The No. 16 Stanford men's varsity crew edged No. 18Pennsylvania in the morning session by 0.5 seconds,however they came up short against No. 7 Navy in theafternoon session. The No. 6 Cardinal women's varsityran into No. 7 Virginia and No. 8 Michigan State andwere unable to notch a win in Saturday racing.Stanford's lightweight eight fared no better sufferinglosses to Harvard and Georgetown.
"There were some fantastic races today and it goeswithout saying that this event wouldn't have beenpossible without the generous support of WindermereReal Estate," said Craig Amerkhanian, Stanford'sDirector of Rowing and Men's Head Coach. "Despite oursetback this afternoon to Navy, I was encouraged withour come-from-behind win over Penn. I'm confident thatthe varsity will be ready for Yale in the morning."
In addition to the collegiate competition, the regattaalso includes racing at the juniors level. Local teamsfrom Los Gatos RC, Pacific RC, Stanford RC, PeninsulaAC, St. Ignatius HS, Berkeley HS as well as a visitingcrew from Osnabruck, GER also competed.

The stage is set for Sunday with the regattachampionship on the line. Coincidentally, in the men'sand women's open division, each event will be decidedin dual race match-ups that will decide the regatta'soverall winner in each division. Meanwhile, thePrinceton lightweight seem to be in the driver's seatfor the regatta crown on Sunday.
